We are a Belgian-Malaysian couple in our fifties. Reading blogs and tweets we learned many children from Fukushima have been diagnosed with thyroid abnormalities and suffer from various health issues. Many mothers have evacuated to protect their children while husbands often have been left behind to support the family. We are trying to reach out to those families with an invitation for a "Fukushima timeout".

We invite Fukushima families (especially those with children whose health has been affected by the nuclear disaster) to spent some time TOGETHER ( we absolutely don't want to leave dad out ). We offer a family to stay for up to 2 weeks for free at our home. We have 2 guest rooms ( non smoking ) available; both guest rooms have a private bathroom and toilet attached. Unfortunately we don't speak Japanese; it is necessary that at least one of the guests can communicate in English or Mandarin.

Our home located in the very South of Malaysia (JOHOR), just across the border with Singapore. We live in a green lush tropical, safe, relaxing, spacious and child friendly environment. This environment encourages both young and old(er) to live an active and healthy lifestyle. It is a place where one will easily forget about dosimeters, contaminated food worries, radiation hotspots,… and all family members can catch up with so many things impaired by the Daiichi disaster.

It may be useful to know that air travel between Tokyo and Singapore became more affordable recently because more budget airlines opened those route. Especially when travel arrangements are made well in advance, cost savings are very significant. The cost of living in Malaysia is low. There are no visa requirements for a short stay in Malaysia or Singapore for Japanese passport holders.

Families considering to apply for "Fukushima timeout" can contact us at mhuy8ky@yahoo.com to exchange more information.
